Google Business Agent for Leads: what is confirmed and how a small B2B SaaS should prepare

Business Agent for Leads is a Google Ads format announced at Google Marketing Live on May 20, 2026. Instead of clicking an ad and filling in a form, a searcher can chat with an AI agent inside the ad that answers from your website, and then leave their details. For a small B2B SaaS, the questions are practical: can you use it yet, what does it require, and what should you do now? As of October 18, 2026, Google has announced the format but has not published a Google Ads Help article on eligibility or setup. This guide separates what Google has confirmed from what is only reported, explains the AI Max question, and gives you a website audit, a qualification template and a stop rule you can use whether or not you get access. It is useful without a Soloop account.

What Google has announced

Google describes Business Agent for Leads as a smart brand agent, built with Gemini, placed inside a Search ad. A searcher clicks Chat, asks questions, gets answers based on your website and can become a lead without leaving the ad. Google's lead-generation summary adds that the agent captures lead data when your team is offline and filters prospects through the conversation.

Google's marketing page claims the answers stay accurate and on-brand because they are grounded in your website content. That is Google's claim, not an independent test. It also means the agent can only be as accurate and complete as the pages it reads.

Google's India summary says the agent finds qualified leads on the results page and triggers a pay-per-lead action; upGrad and Amity Education Group piloted it.

Confirmed, reported and unknown

Most articles about this format repeat eligibility details that Google has not documented in its help center. Keep the three categories apart when you plan.

Does it fit your SaaS?

A chat-to-lead format suits products where a buyer has questions before talking to you: pricing that depends on size, integrations, security or setup time. It suits self-serve products less, because the best next step there is a free trial, not a lead.

  • You already run Search ads and record leads or signups as conversions, so you have a baseline to compare against.
  • Buyers usually ask questions before buying, and those answers exist on your website.
  • You can write down what makes a lead qualified, such as company size, role, use case and timeline.
  • Someone can follow up with every qualified lead within one business day.
  • You are willing to consider AI Max for Search, if that remains a requirement, and to review its search terms and ad text.
  • Your site is accurate today: pricing, limits and integrations match the product.

The AI Max question

If the reported requirement holds, you cannot reach this format from a standard Search campaign. AI Max is not a new campaign type; it is a setting inside a Search campaign. It adds search term matching (broad match and keywordless matching), text customization (ad text generated from your ads, landing pages and assets) and final URL expansion (sending clicks to the page Google expects to perform best). Controls include brand inclusions and exclusions, URL inclusions and exclusions, and locations of interest.

Some accounts may already be on AI Max. Google said campaigns using automatically created assets or campaign-level broad match would be upgraded automatically from September 2026, while the Dynamic Search Ads upgrade moved to February 2027. Check each campaign's settings before deciding anything.

What AI Max is

An optimization layer you turn on in existing Search campaigns: search term matching, text customization and final URL expansion, with brand, URL and location controls. Google warns it is less effective when a campaign is limited by budget.

Audit the pages the agent would read

Google says the agent answers from your website. If a buyer's question is not answered on your site, the agent cannot answer it well, and neither can a human reader. This audit is useful even if you never get access: the same pages help your landing page and your sales calls.

Write your qualification rules

Google says the agent qualifies prospects through dialogue, but your business still decides what qualified means. Write the rules before any campaign, then import the outcome back into Google Ads so bidding learns from qualified leads, not just form fills. Copy and fill in this template.

  1. Buyer: [role] at [company type], [size range].
  2. Use case: they need [job] and currently use [workaround or competitor].
  3. Must have: [one or two facts that make the product a fit, such as a required integration].
  4. Disqualifiers: [facts that rule a lead out, such as a region you do not serve or a team size below your minimum].
  5. Timeline: buying within [period].
  6. Follow-up: [person] replies within [time] with [next step].
  7. Qualified event: the CRM or spreadsheet stage you will import as a conversion. [Stage name]

Set a benchmark and a stop rule

Everything in this example is fictional: the product, the numbers and the outcome. It shows how to compare a new lead format with what you already have; it is not a benchmark, a customer result or output from Soloop.

Rosterly is an invented scheduling tool for dental clinics. Its founder ran a standard Search campaign with a lead form for 30 days before considering any chat format.

Where Soloop fits

Soloop is an AI cofounder that runs individual go-to-market tasks for a founder. According to the Soloop manual, Soloop can prepare and launch Google Ads campaigns once you complete the campaign setup and required payment steps. In the current setup, those are standard Search campaigns: keywords with exact, phrase or broad match, ad text you review, one total budget with a start and end time, and your approval before payment.

Soloop does not set up AI Max, Performance Max or Business Agent for Leads. You can use it for the preparation in this guide. A bounded first request: My product is [URL] for [buyer]. Read my site and list the buyer questions it does not answer, with the page each answer belongs on. Then prepare a standard Search campaign for [theme] with a [amount] total budget for my review.

Soloop does not promise leads, qualified leads or revenue. Follow the campaign setup shown in your workspace, because these details can change.

Sources, limitations and refresh

Confirmed facts come from Google's announcement, product pages, Google Ads Help and the Google Ads blog, read on October 18, 2026. Eligibility and testing verticals are reported by industry coverage and are labeled as reported. The checklist, audit, template and fictional example are editorial guidance, not a measured study.

This format is new and changing. Recheck Google Ads Help and your own account before planning a campaign around it. This guide will be reviewed by December 18, 2026, or sooner if Google publishes help documentation.
