Established

Anthropic's product page describes Cowork as a way to give Claude a goal that it works on across your files and tools, then returns for review, and positions it for non-coding knowledge work while Claude Code targets software engineering. A banner says "Claude Cowork is now just Claude."
On September 16, 2026 Anthropic announced that Cowork and chat are merging into one Claude, rolling out first to Pro and Max on web, desktop and mobile, with Team and Free plans to follow. Existing connectors, plugins and skills carry over.
The desktop app reaches local folders and apps; web and mobile can start and monitor tasks, and tasks can continue in the cloud with the laptop closed. Scheduled tasks can run at any cadence. A built-in browser was added on August 26, 2026.
You choose which folders and tools Claude can access. By default Claude asks before taking an action, deleting anything requires your approval, and with permission settings on Claude shows its plan and waits before significant actions.
Anthropic lists Pro at $17 a month billed annually or $20 monthly, Max at $100 or $200 a month and Team at $20 per seat; all plans have usage limits, and Cowork uses them faster than chat. Its marketing page lists Gmail, Google Drive, Google Sheets, Slack, Salesforce and Amplitude among available connectors.

Needs verification

Whether Claude can publish to X, send Gmail messages or launch ads through a given connector or plugin depends on that connector's permissions and was not established; the pages reviewed describe drafting, analysis and edits more than publishing.
Because the merge is rolling out by plan, the name and entry point you see may be Claude rather than Cowork. How many tasks a plan's usage limit covers was not stated, so no like-for-like monthly cost is computed.

Can Claude Cowork do marketing for a startup?

It can help with much of the work: research, campaign reports, briefs, on-brand drafts and analysis across the tools you connect. Publishing posts, sending outreach or running ads depends on the connectors and plugins you add and their permissions, and Anthropic's default is to ask before taking an action.

Is Soloop a Claude Cowork alternative?
